We believe that the design of a system has a large impact on the environment in which it's used. We've found that because our Rain systems look somewhat startling that they are treated completely differently to any of the other computers found in schools or colleges. They carry a sense of professionalism and so students tend to treat them with respect. All our systems are designed to be as quiet as possible and so the noise level inside a suite of Rain computers is spookily quiet and appropriate for music use. We provide internal USB ports for hiding away those all important software dongles and iLoks. We can plumb everything into a network and provide the ability for the teacher to access all the computers remotely and even send their screen to each of the students machine for teaching and demonstration purposes - talk to us about your requirements.

Support and IT Departments

Rain computers should be seen more like another piece of music equipment, like a mixer or keyboard, rather than as a computer. Music department purchases often circumnavigate the usual IT department channels and so can cause concern or conflict over who supports these machines that were not specified by IT. The simple answer is that Rain supports these systems. For certain tasks such as connecting to school printers or creating logins to the school network then we always appreciate a good relationship with your IT department. But in terms of running correctly, software configuration and hardware failure then we are fully responsible for supporting you.

Pro Tools is the standard recording software that you'll find in almost all recording studios. The LE version is identical to the "HD" professional version of Pro Tools and has all the same features the differences being in the DSP hardware and connectivity available. The Mbox Mini 2 is the perfect starting point for entering the Pro Tools world. The little box has microphone and instrument inputs and a headphone output for monitoring. Bundled with Pro Tools is a suite of plug-ins and virtual instruments including the Boom drum machine, DB-33 tonewheel organ, Mini Grand piano, Vacuum synth, Xpand!
